There’s a special breed of Nintendo Switch owner out there.

A type of person who has a a finger with an insatiable need to stroke the trigger of a fantastical weapon in the midst of space; blasting oncoming alien invaders into infinite pieces.

Those fans lay awake at night, hoping. praying, that they will one day get their chance at intergalactic glory once again.

Those dreams are finally coming true, thanks to the release of R-Type Dimensions EX.

R-Type Dimensions EX repackages and updates two of the most iconic arcade shooters ever created: R-Type (released in 1987), and R-Type II (released in 1989).

Both titles included in R-Type Dimensions EX include the classic titles in all of their original 2-D glory, lovingly updated with a new high-res, 1080p sheen; however, intrepid pilots can also play through both titles in fancy revamped 3-D graphics. Players can also choose to play using the original music and sound, or, they can play using completely a remastered audio experience to match the updated visuals.

New game modes have also been added to the mix in R-Type Dimensions EX, including a slow motion function, level select, and more.

For fans of classic arcade shooters, it doesn’t get much more iconic than this image..

Players looking to relive these classics, or, those of you who are new to the legendary R-Type series can pick up R-Type Dimensions EX on either the Nintendo Switch, or Steam for a discounted price this week.
