Jason Voorhees finally made it to PS4 owners of Mortal Kombat X and the Kombat Pack Season Pass early yesterday evening (May 5th)! I decided to take the opportunity to try my hand at a small video project to demo the new character. What was at first going to be essentially an archived Twitch stream soon became a full blown, all night journey through video editing.
So without further ado, here’s a little something I put together to show of some of Jason’s talents in the new Mortal Kombat X. Let me know what you think, and remember that this video is also available on Nerd Bacon’s YouTube Channel.
Ok, so it may not be the next biggest thing, but let me know what you guys think – this was my first attempt ever at tinkering with video games + “filming” + editing!

YouTube figured out my song!
With any luck, Tanya will drop this coming Tuesday…
Very nice editing here, and the music is very appropriate for the video!
Nice one, Cube. I’m a big Jason guy from way back
Thanks guys!
@Chrono – Yeah, unfortunately I’m not much of a strategist, but he isn’t one of the easier characters to play as. His specials are slow and when they don’t connect he is left quite vulnerable. I’m sure he’s got other strengths – the MK team has been a lot better at balancing their characters in one way or another – but he’s definitely more of a threat in advanced hands, which is why you saw me resorting to the same moves over and over.
@Rhut – Yeah, I might do some for others and try to build on my experience. I actually wanted to show off the new skins that came with the download as well, but once I hit roughly 30 minutes of footage I figured I had enough to handle for my first time. I probably ought to come up with a better way to capture the footage as well – for example during the Goro fight you can see the stream start to degenerate a little. And during the Fatality on Kung Jin, you can plainly hear where I was talking to you during the stream!
I’m pretty sure I can capture footage directly on the PS4 though, right? But then how do I get that on my computer? Twitch + middle of the night = easiest way I could think of to capture a chunk of gameplay!
The video is nice, clean, and well edited. Bravo Cubist! It looks, great. Are you planning on doing a demo showcase for each of the new DLC characters?
Jason looks brutal! Can’t wait until his strategies have been figured out.
Hard to believe that was your first video editing experience. I thought it was great 😀
