Tanya – Mortal Kombat X – VIDEO Demo

Tanya – Mortal Kombat X – VIDEO Demo

An entire month after Mortal Kombat X’s first DLC character (Jason Voorhees) was released, fans are finally able to play as Tanya, often considered “the yellow female ninja.”  Tanya has been relatively scarce in MK canon, first appearing in MK4 (and its upgrade MK Gold) and then again alongside every kombatant in MK Armageddon.  Perhaps we’ll see more of her in this new timeline; her story has already shifted considerably from her original time-line counterpart.  In the original continuity she masqueraded as a refugee from Edenia-turned-Outworld, though worked secretly as an ally to Shinnok.  It would then seem appropriate for her to pop up in MKX, yet now she is a key figure in the Outworld rebellion along with Mileena and Rain.  Unlike a few other characters, neither her pre-match dialog nor her ending shed any particularly useful light on her role in these events.

So here it is, a preliminary demonstration of the all-new Tanya, in her Dragon Naginata variation.  She was a fun character to play a few battles with and jumping on the naginata was especially cool, though without a projectile (at least in this variation) and a very difficult to land X-ray attack, I’d be hard-pressed go into “serious” battle with her.  Stayed tuned and maybe we’ll check out her other variations as well!

Find out what these ratings mean and how I rate video games.

I collect as much video gaming paraphernalia as I can get my hands on, especially when it comes to hardware. With over 40 systems including oldies like the ColecoVision and Intellivision, obscurities like the CD-i and 3DO, and the latest and greatest including the Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, 3DS, and PS Vita, I get easily overwhelmed. Most of the time you can find me firmly nestled sometime between 1985 and 1995 when it comes to my games of choice, but I’m also having a great time seeing what the 8th generation has to offer.
