No Justice? No Peace – Injustice 2 Announced For 2017 – E3 2016

No Justice? No Peace – Injustice 2 Announced For 2017 – E3 2016

After a week filled with numerous leaks, including Tuesday’s peek at a promotional poster, Warner Bros. Interactive has officially announced the existence of Injustice 2.

This sequel to the well-received 2013 fighting game pits an expansive roster of DC Comics super heroes and super villains against each other in a hand-to-hand showdown for supremacy.

NetherRealm Studios, the folks behind the Mortal Kombat franchise, is once again at the helm for Injustice 2, which is slated for a 2017 release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Injustice 2 will feature a new system for customizing the roster of DC icons, called the Gear System.

This new mechanic will mimic popular RPG games by providing the player with a loot drop after each match. These loot drops will contain various cosmetic items and move-set options that will allow you to customize and upgrade your hero as you see fit.

As Warner Bros. points out in their press release, one player’s Aquaman can end up playing differently from another player’s Aquaman.

Injustice 2’s Gear System sounds very reminiscent of the Gem system that was featured in 2012’s Street Fighter X Tekken. Players could earn, unlock, or purchase gems which offered various stat bonuses to characters. This mechanic proved to be somewhat controversial within the fighting game community.

We will be learning more about Injustice 2 once E3 2016 begins on June 14th.
