Requirements

Note:  Some of you may be exempt from these requirements.  If you are unsure, please contact Nerd Berry or The Cubist for more information.

In order to build a solid and stable team of writers and contributors to move into the future with, we have found it necessary to implement a few stipulations.  While it is not our intention to be “bosses” we have tried the anything goes approach before and found it to be woefully ineffective.  Our aim is to have fun playing and discussing games, but we also want to build up a credible website poised to thrive in the future.  Should any of these requirements prove too difficult to meet, please contact us and we can work something out.  Do not wait until it is too late or your membership may be revoked.

  1. Nerd Bacon . com requires its writers to generate an average of 2 or 4 articles per month, depending on what you agreed upon at the time of your signing.  We will not strictly monitor member output on a 30 or 31 day time frame, but we do expect roughly 2 or 4 articles per 4 week period.  If you were to crank out 5 one month and 3 the next that’s perfectly acceptable.  Should you be out of town or unavailable for a period of time, just let one of us know.  We are more than understanding of extenuating circumstances.
  2. Your first 10 articles must be reviews on hardware or software.  After these 10, you may branch out into other categories (DIY, News, Top 10 Lists, Beyond Bacon pieces, etc.) as long as these pieces do not exceed roughly half of your total output.  Again, we will not be splitting hairs and crunching numbers, but we do want approximately 50% of your output to focus on hardware and software (game) reviews.  Should you wish to specialize in a certain area, please contact us and we will happily sort it out.
  3. As previously mentioned, we do expect you to have at least one (1) published or submitted review within 2 weeks of your registration.  You may be deleted without notice if you fail to meet this condition.

NON-MONETARY COMPENSATION

That’s it!  Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any pay or incentives presently.  However, we are aiming for success and those that have contributed the most both in terms of quantity and quality will be certainly be at the top of our list when it comes to sharing any benefits and rewards we may reap.

What we can offer, however, is a place where you can unleash your creative potential and grow as a journalist and critic. After you’ve spent some time with Nerd Bacon we would be more than happy to write recommendation letters, provide you with necessary credentials (such as press badges, official Nerd Bacon email accounts, Nerd Bacon business cards, etc) for exclusive interviews, and resume references. Furthermore, once you have reached Author Status you can use your official Nerd Bacon credentials to seek out promotional copies of video games, free game codes, and any other creative ways you can think up.

We don’t want to take up too much of your time and we don’t want to impose too many restrictions.  What we do want is team solidarity.  Nerd Bacon . com is a collaborative effort and we can’t do it alone.  We do expect your position as a member to be taken with a certain amount of reverence as we are working very hard to build ourselves up as an internet authority on video gaming.

In order to efficiently monitor who has and hasn’t fulfilled our short list of requirements, our Membership Manager, Nerdberry, keeps a careful record of each members’ output.  Administrative action is taken based on the information gathered by our Membership Manager, so if you’re ever concerned about your level of output, impending deletion of your account, or need to notify us of any extended absences that may prevent you from meeting these requirements, please get in touch with Nerdberry at nerdberry@nerdbacon.com.

If this is your first time, please read through the required reading IN ORDER.
