Yasunori Mitsuda, the Composer behind classic scores such as; Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, and Chrono Cross has signed on to compose the soundtrack for Edge of Eternity, a new RPG being developed by Midgar Studios.

“As a J-RPG fan, its a great honor to have the opportunity to work with such an artist as Mr Mitsuda. It goes beyond my dreams. The attention he gives to our project confirms that there is really something happening here with Edge of Eternity, its a real reward for all the energy we put in this development. We really hope gamers will help us make this dream come true.” said Jeremy Zeler-Maury, the founder of Midgar Studios and designer for Edge of Eternity.

“I’m  looking forward to create music for such an epic perspective, in a world which I really love.” Said Mitsuda in a press release announcing his involvement with Edge of Eternity. “I’m sure the game will be a great work with a collaboration between french and japanese creators. I hope everybody also look forward to the goal of this project, and for its realisation we need your cooperation. I’ll do my best to contribute to a beautiful music you all will love.”

Edge of Eternity draws heavy influence from the classic era of J-RPG’s. With the addition of Yasunori Mitsuda, they hope to have the sounds of classic J-RPG’s as well.

Edge of Eternity is a new RPG being developed by a four man team at Midgar Studios, an independent developer located in Nimes France. The studio was founded in 2008 and has developed a number of titles including; Hover: Revolt of Gamers, and The Secret of Space Octopuses.

Edge of Eternity describes itself as a turn based RPG set in space, that draws a heavy influence from classic Japanese RPG’s from the 1990’s and early 2000’s. It was initially conceived as a mobile phone game, however fan feedback led to the decision to expand the scope of the project, and they then shifted the focus to current-gen consoles and PC.

Midgar Studios is getting ready to launch a Kickstarter campaign for the project, which will commence on February 15th.
