Microsoft is whetting our appetites for adventure with a new cinematic teaser trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider, ahead of its E3 2015 press conference. The trailer features series heroine Lara Croft, slowly pick-axing her way up an impossibly steep and icy mountain side as she muses on great figures of the past; and how one has to push themselves to their limits in order to achieve great things.

An avalanche bombards Lara with icy boulders, showcasing one of the possible scenarios players will be facing when Rise of the Tomb Raider launches later this year.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is expected to be prominently featured as part of Microsoft’s E3 2015 press conference which is scheduled for Monday June 15th and has generated some controversy over confusion caused by Microsoft’s announcement that Rise of the Tomb Raider would be an exclusive release. Microsoft’s Head of Xbox division Phil Spencer later clarified the issue, stating that Rise of the Tomb Raider would be a “timed exclusive,” meaning that the game could eventually make its way to non-Microsoft related consoles after a period of time.
