Mario Kart 8 Version 4.1 Update – Wii U

Mario Kart 8 Version 4.1 Update – Wii U

Platform:  Wii U

Release Date (NA):  May 1st, 2015

Developer:  Nintendo

Publisher:  Nintendo

Genre:  Racing

Nerd Rating:  N/A

Just over a week ago, the long awaited 2nd DLC pack for Mario Kart 8 was released, adding in the final 3 characters and filling in the final 2 cups.  Also included was a new 200cc mode that was available in certain multiplayer modes but not in Grand Prix modes.  To play 200cc in Grand Prix, one needed to earn gold trophies in all 8 of the game’s original cups in 150cc mode.  Unbeknownst to most, doing such would also unlock a “Mirror Mode” where players would have the opportunity to race courses in the opposite direction at the 150cc level.

Many fans were bummed that the new 200cc difficult wasn’t immediately available, and Nintendo must’ve been listening.  Just a few days later, a small update was released that patched minor bugs and “improved gameplay experience” while also making not only 200cc mode but also Mirror Mode available from the start!  Even though it’s just a small patch, it continues to give us mvfgtore reasons to keep on playing Mario Kart 8.
