Legend of Korra Game Coming In October
From the makers of Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengence comes The Legend of Korra, a fighting game based on the namesake animated series.
The Legend of Korra is based on the hit Nickelodeon series that just recently aired the third and penultimate season. In the world of The Legend of Korra (both the game and the show) people have the ability to manipulate the elements and use them to their advantage (typically in combat). The Avatar is the one person in the entire world that has the ability to “bend” all of the elements (Earth, Fire, Air, and Water) and is the connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. Because the Avatar is so vastly important to the world, the Avatar’s spirit is reborn when one dies.
The Legend of Korra game takes place between the second and third seasons of the show. In The Legend of Korra you control Avatar Korra as she journeys to regain the ability to bend the elements that was stolen from her by a “Chi-Blocker.” Throughout the game you will battle Mecha Tanks, Chi-Blockers, and other familiar characters from the series as well as ride around on a giant polar bear dog (fun, right?).
The game will include multiple versions and modes that unlock after you complete the game for the first time, one of these modes being pro-bending. As a fan of the show, I am excited to see that The Legend of Korra will include a pro-bending mode. Pro-bending is a form of professional sport where two teams of three (One person for each element excluding air) fight using their bad ass element bending powers until either time runs out or one team is knocked off the platform. It’s great fun to watch in the show and I can’t wait to see how it translates into the game.
At San Diego Comic Con IGN looked at in-depth gameplay of The Legend of Korra which can be seen below:
Platinum Games and Activision will release The Legend of Korra on PSN and Steam on October 21st. The game will hit the Xbox Marketplace the following day.
