Banjo-Kazooie – Nintendo 64
In the 1990s, a Nintendo 64 game developed by Rare was as good as gold. Having established themselves as power-houses in the game developing world, Rare would put out some of the best titles, not only for their company, but on the platform. One game that helped cement their status was Banjo-Kazooie.

X Rebirth – PC
The idea of an all-immersive, free play space game sounds incredible. X Rebirth give players the choice to follow their own path, but sloppy execution forces no choice but to put down the controller. Bad controls, bad dialogue, and bitter disappointment are all we got.

Super Castlevania IV – SNES
The “super” in Super Castlevania IV is aptly placed. Everything from the controls to the graphics to the music is incredible and well thought out. Veteran gamers may find this title too easy, but the enjoyability factor is through the roof. Check it out.

Metroid – NES
You’re not a true gamer if you haven’t played Metroid, plain and simple. The controls are as flawless today as they were back then and the iconic music and graphics are just as awe-inspiring. If you haven’t played it, do so. If you have, do so again.

Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse – NES
First Castlevania too hard? Then avoid Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, because things haven’t changed much. The graphics can be nice at times and playing as other characters is fun, but not worth the price of all the controllers you’ll be throwing in frustration.
-
Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest – NES
The RPG elements add a whole new dimension to the platforming genre, but solving puzzles can be difficult without the Internet, as can simple things like jumping and walking down stairs. Simon’s Quest is fun but not for beginners.
-
Grand Theft Auto V – PS3
If you thought GTA IV was good, then you’re gonna love this. Grand Theft Auto V somehow improves on its predecessor in every detail. The three character story structure is engaging and adds diversity while the free-range environment is expanded exponentially. Play this game.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon – 3DS
For a sequel that took 13 years to make, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon is just ok. Graphics and environments add too lot of the charm, but the game play becomes more of the same after a while.

Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective – TurboGrafx CD
Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective does a good job of piecing together mysteries worthy of its namesake, but the process of solving them can be mind numbing and frustrating. Solving each case is enjoyable, but the same result can be achieved by process of elimination. A fun game if you have nothing better.

Star Trek Online – PC
A Star Trek MMO seems like an ideal game. The mechanics, graphics, and space combat provide hours of entertainment for Star Trek fans and non-fans alike. It’s too bad that planetside combat couldn’t have gotten more attention.
