Nihilumbra – PC
Nihilumbra is a very touching platformer that takes you through the world in the eyes of Born, a creature made out of pure nothingness that wants to know what it means to really live. Using a creative color mechanic and introducing new puzzles and obstacles at a comfortable pace, the only thing more impressive than the gameplay is the powerful narrative that gives this game its structure.

Diablo 3 – PlayStation 4
Diablo 3 is a fun game on its own merits as a hack-and-slash RPG, but playing it solo doesn’t do it justice. I can say that after playing many hours both solo and cooperatively. If you are looking for a good single player game, I’d probably recommend something else, though if cooperative games are on the menu for you, Diablo 3 is a good choice. Its availability on the consoles makes the game open to many more players.

Terranigma – SNES
So, it’s Retrouary, and student 20 finally offers up a review. This time, it’s for Terranigma, the third (and possibly best) of Quintet’s Gaia series, and the only one that was never brought to North American shores. Is it good? Yeah. Is it revolutionary? Oh, heck no. studetn 20 thinks of it as Secret of Mana light…

Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold – PC
Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold is a first-person shooter built from the Wolfenstein 3D engine by JAM Productions and published by Apogee Software. It plays very much like its parent title with a few upgrades and a scenery shift, but does it hold up beyond the weight of nostalgia? Buy a candy bar and some ammo as we chase Dr. Goldfire through every single one of his hidden treasure rooms!

It takes guts to play a game like Carmageddon, but thankfully, nobody said that they had to be yours…
