The Division 2 Officially Announced

The Division 2 Officially Announced

It’s hard to believe that Tom Clancy’s The Division is already two years old. The third-person shooter/MMORPG hybrid has built up a nice fanbase (myself included) and seemed to get better with each update, which included an all-out game saving patch when cheaters and hackers were discovered. Today, unsurprisingly, Ubisoft officially announced The Division 2.

Creative Director Julian Gerighty hosted a livestream announcing the title Thursday morning and said “It wasn’t an easy decision,” which is directed more towards the community of fans wanting the team to simply expand the current game than make a full-fledged sequel. However, due to there being “so many stories and so many experiences we want to explore within The Division,” a sequel is the way they are going.

While no platforms or release dates/windows for The Division 2 were discussed, the team DID say the game will be at E3 2018, so it would be safe to assume at least one of those questions will have an answer.

On top of the announcement of a sequel, two big updates are coming for The Division. The first update, coming out in April, will not only enhance a few in-game missions, but add the Xbox One X enhancement patch. The second update, due out in June, will add challenges that will award “Shields” and unlock content in The Division 2 upon release. I have conveniently added Ubisoft’s “Road Ahead” below: (you are most welcome)

As someone who has spent many hours in the original game (and plan on going back to it as soon as I am done writing this), I am looking forward to a sequel and only ask that I can get more of the MMO feel of the MMORPG since you really only got a feel for the other players when you were in the “safe houses”
