Ubisoft E3 Press Conference: A Breakdown – E3 2014
E3 is the annual gathering of the video game industry to showcase what they have coming in the next year or so. Before the E3 floor even opens, the biggest of the big companies hold press conferences to stir up excitement.
Ubisoft’s conference went third in the lineup of video game companies, following Microsoft and EA. Although being a few conferences in, it didn’t stop them from throwing massive punches. Ubisoft showcased a grand total of eight uniquely diverse games that will come to the market at some point in the future.
This article is a basic summary of what Ubisoft had showcased and should in no way be taken as all-inclusive. Full detailed articles of the major games showcased at Ubisoft’s conference will follow soon.
Ubisoft was explosive with their debut of the insanely impressive Far Cry 4 trailer (which is apparently the first five minutes of the game). Far Cry 4 will introduce a new villain in a new setting and is set in the Himalayas. It also features the exciting new antagonist, Pagan Min. The trailer was full of excitement and it thrilled at least one viewer (me)! One thing is for sure, the trailer did its job to incite anticipation for its release.
Actual gameplay was later shown at the Sony press conference.

The next game to follow was the next annual release of the Just Dance series with Just Dance 2015. Not much has changed about the actual game with the exception of some updated tracks.
Despite the game itself not changing much, Ubisoft is innovating the game. They are introducing a “Community Remix” which allows supposedly an infinite amount of players to play Just Dance by using their smartphones.
Ubisoft then brought out dancers to showcase their community remix.
Just Dance 2015 is set to be released in October 2014 and will be first released on Xbox One and PS4.
Following Just Dance 2015 was a game that had stirred up excitement before the conference had even started. Ubisoft displayed a teaser trailer of Tom Clancy’s Division, a game that had been showed at last years E3.
Tom Clancy’s Division takes place during a New York City disaster that, by the looks of it, has infected most of the city. This trailer showcasing the game is insanely dark and dramatic.
Tom Clancy’s Division releases at some point in 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Ubisoft then moves on from this really dark game preview to a more relaxing trailer for an open world driving game called The Crew. In The Crew you have the ability to drive from coast to coast in the United States, supposedly without any loading screens. The trailer shown at Ubisoft’s E3 conference showcases a time lapsed version two hour mission that goes from Miami to L.A.
The Crew is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 11, 2014. The Closed Beta is available July 23rd.
Next up in Ubisoft’s line of hard hitters is Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Understandably, Ubisoft spent a longer amount of time promoting this game as they released a 3:30 cinematic trailer as well as an almost 10 minute display of gameplay.
Assassin’s Creed: Unity takes place in the French Revolution and follows the life of Arnaud, the series’ newest Assassin. Unity claims to make the series even more open world and adds even more activities. Assassin’s Creed: Unity features a completely revamped gameplay experience.
Earlier in the day, Ubisoft stopped by the Microsoft conference to showcase Assassin’s Creed: Unity’s flexible co-op in ordinary missions. Co-op playing can be used at any point in Assassin’s Creed: Unity.
Assassin’s Creed: Unity releases October 28, 2014 on PS4 and Xbox One.
Now, I don’t know about you but seeing all of the Assassin’s Creed parkor makes me want to exercise. So how about using Ubisoft’s new Shape Up game to get into shape in a fun way?
Shape Up is a fitness game that uses arcade-like and generally fun games to make you want to exercise. Using the Xbox One’s Kinect, these mini games have you thinking that you are playing a game but in reality you are excersizing.

Shape Up is available this November for Xbox One users.
Now we go from working up a sweat to a sad indie puzzle game. Ubisoft paired up with a World War I documentary to develop Valiant Hearts, a historical game inspired by World War I letters that tells the story of four World War I heroes through the eyes of their dog companion.
Valiant Hearts is set to release June 25, 2014 for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and Windows.
Ubisoft closed out the day with the re-introduction of the Rainbow Six series back into the eyes of the video game industry.
Here at E3, Ubisoft revealed gameplay of a multiplayer match of Rainbow Six Siege. For those who aren’t familiar with the Rainbow Six franchise, it follows the work of a counter-terrorism group. Of what Ubisoft showed at their conference, multiplayer missions of Rainbow Six Siege will involve saving a hostage from a terrorist group and extracting him/her safely from the situation.
Rainbow Six Siege is set to release in 2015.
In the broad spectrum of the E3 conferences, Ubisoft preformed well. Its safe to say that most of these games can be eagerly looked forward to.
