The Days Are Of A Future Past In Horizon: Zero Dawn – E3 2016
Amidst all of the hoopla that surrounded Sony’s shocking announcements during the course of their E3 2015 press event, was a gorgeous PlayStation 4 title from Guerrilla Games, Horizon: Zero Dawn.
The game showed off an intriguingly mysterious blend of advanced technology, in the form of giant mechanical beasts, set against the backdrop of a group of humans living in pre-historic conditions.
It was a striking contrast that immediately captured the imagination in much the same way as the original Star Wars did, with its head-trip of an opening declaration; “A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.” Horizon: Zero Dawn provided an inverse declaration of a distant future, resembling that of a distant past.
Today Sony released a brand new trailer for Horizon: Zero Dawn, as well as a solid release date of February 28th, 2017 for the game, ahead of E3 2016.
The new trailer gives us insight into the main character, Aloy, a girl orphaned among a surviving tribe of humans known as the Outcasts.
Aloy struggles to learn more about her past, as well as shed light upon the mysteries left behind by the previous civilization.
However, not everyone is as keen as she is on learning about their past. Aloy struggles against tribe elders who wish to keep the secrets of yesterday buried in the depths of history.
One line in particular gives us that same imagination whirring feeling that we once felt when seeing that bold Star Wars introduction:
“The world of the old ones; what secrets lay beneath their crumbling ruins? The Earth is ours no more.”
Hopefully Sony will give us some more meat to sink our teeth into regarding Horizon: Zero Dawn, during their E3 2016 press event which will be Monday, June 13th at 9pm EST. You can watch it live on the NerdBacon Twitch channel.
