Star Fox Zero Gets Grounded Til Next Year

Star Fox Zero Gets Grounded Til Next Year

American Airlines flights were not the only ones having trouble getting off the ground Thursday.

Late Thursday evening, Nintendo announced that their largest game for the 2015 holiday season, Star Fox Zero, would be delayed until the first quarter of 2016.

Miyamoto believes that Star Fox Zero needs a bit more time with the flight crew before it takes off.

The message, posted to Nintendo’s Facebook account by legendary developer Shigeru Miyamoto, indicated a desire to fully polish the game before its release to the public.

We now believe that we will need a little more time to work on areas such as the unprecedented discovery that we want players to experience in the game by using two screens, and further polishing the level designs and perfecting the tone of the cut scenes. While we have already reached the stage where it would be technically possible to release the title in time for the year-end holiday season, we want to polish the game a bit more so that players will be able to more smoothly grasp the new style of play that we are proposing.”

Miyamoto went on to assure players that Star Fox Zero would surpass the achievements of Star Fox 64 and requested that players be patient while they put the finishing touches on the game.

Star Fox Zero was officially announced at this year’s E3 event and was set to be the major holiday 2015 centerpiece for Nintendo’s Wii U console. The development is being handled by Platinum Games, who’s penchant for intense action games yielded last year’s masterpiece, Bayonetta 2.

Were your dreams of playing Star Fox Zero this year shot down? Or is your spirit ready to soar when the game is released early next year? Let us know your inner-most feelly feels (and terrible flight-related puns) in the comments section below.
