Pokken Tournament Fights Its Way To Wii U

Pokken Tournament Fights Its Way To Wii U

Pokemon players around the world have spent years trying to “catch em all” but now Wii U owners will face a new challenge, can they defeat their favorite Pokemon in hand-to-hand combat?

Luckily, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out who the toughest Pokemon of them all. The Pokemon Company and Nintendo have revealed that Pokken Tournament, the Pokemon fighting game (yes, you read that right) developed by the fighting game aficionado’s over at Namco Bandai, will be coming to the Wii U in 2016.

Pokken Tournament, previously only available for play in Japanese arcades, is being overseen by legendary fighting game director Katsuhiro Harada, who is well known as the director of the Tekken series.

The Pokemon series has always had a reputation for being accessible to players of all ages and skill levels, and Pokken Tournament has been designed with this pedigree in mind.

J.C. Smith, Director of Consumer Marketing at the Pokemon Company noted in a press release earlier today,

Pokkén Tournament combines the best elements of a traditional fighting game with an authentic Pokémon experience, Fans will be thrilled to see their favorite Pokémon battle in a whole new way.”

No solid release date other than spring 2016 has been revealed yet for Pokken Tournament.
