Nintendo Showcases New Amiibo at E3 2015

Nintendo Showcases New Amiibo at E3 2015

Now it’s time for some exciting news for all the amiibo collectors out there; Nintendo has showcased at least a dozen new amiibo at the annual E3 event!

Many amiibo that had only previously been rumored such as Falco and Mr. Game & Watch finally were viewable for the public eye! Including some surprising new ones such as the Skylanders Super Chargers amiibo of Bowser and Donkey Kong as well as the Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival amiibo!

Also shown were some of the upcoming amiibo such as the three Yoshi’s Wooly World beanie amiibo and those just recently released in Japan, but have yet to receive a US release date, Zero Suit Samus, Palutena, Dark Pit, and Ganondorf. Several of the Animal Crossing collectable card amiibo were also showcased. From the numbering in the top right corner of them, it would appear that an entire set should be set to release in the coming months.

Another interesting addition were the two 8-bit Mario amiibos shown, the brown-and-red classic coloring and the red-and-blue modern coloring, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Super Mario Bros!

It also appears that there will be a Japan-exclusive amiibo of Nintendo‘s short-lived accessory, R.O.B., sporting his original redish Famicon coloring as well as a worldwide version with his well-known grey one.

As an added treat, in-game compatibilities for the showcased amiibo were listed on a little display card by each set. Mario Maker, which we just recently were able to catch some gameplay of during the Nintendo World Championships 2015, has also been revealed to unlock special characters that can be used in-game by scanning their amiibo.

Sadly, no new details have been revealed about the upcoming July US amiibo wave that will include Dark Pit and Palutena, just that they will be released in July. The new showcased amiibos have received similar release times, with September looking to be a rather large wave!

LRcHCVOAccording to Nintendo‘s official amiibo lineup, the following amiibo showcased at this year’s E3 will be a part of the upcoming September wave:

  • Bowser Jr.
  • Dr. Mario
  • Duck Hunt
  • Ganondorf
  • Mii Brawler
  • Mii Gunner
  • Mii Swordfighter
  • Mr. Game & Watch
  • Pikmin & Olimar
  • R.O.B. (Japan)
  • R.O.B. (International)
  • Zero Suit Samus

And don’t forget to expect the Chibi Robo and Green, Blue, and Pink Yarn Yoshi amiibo in the fall as well as Falco during the 2015 Holiday season!
