Girls Make Games Partners with A.J. Lee for Scholarship Contest
Former WWE Diva A.J. Lee is tag-teaming with Girls Make Games for a chance to win a $1500 scholarship, according to a post on the Girls Make Games Twitter page.
Contestants will have to submit a one minute video explaining their vision for a videogame concept they want to see brought to life, with the winner receiving a $1500 scholarship and a chance to work with the Girls Make Games Team in Chicago to bring that vision to life.
Girls Make Games is a collection of Workshops, Summer Camps, and Various other gatherings designed to inspire girls to get more involved in the creation of videogames. The organization is under the purview of LearnDistrict, which describes itself as an indie game developer, dedicated to building the next-generation of educational games.
According to statistics released by the Entertainment Software Association, nearly half of current game players are female, however females only make up 12% of the growing game industry.
Aspiring game creators who are interested in competing for the Girls Make Games scholarship contest should send their video submissions to ajscholar@girlsmakegames.com by May 15th.
A.J. Lee is an avid gamer, and until recently a top WWE Diva, having been the longest running WWE Diva’s Champion in the company’s history. She is married to former WWE Wrestler C.M. Punk, who is currently training to compete in his first UFC contest this fall.
