Doom Eternal shotguns onto the E3 stage – E3 2018
When the gates of hell open and a Cyberdemon roars you know exactly what game you’re in. Doom. Yes you’re reading this right, Doom Eternal was announced during the Bethesda E3 showcase Sunday evening. Bethesda and id Software not only announced that the sequel to the rebooted Doom title from 2016 exists, but it brought a hell sized trailer right along with it. Which luckily for you I have included at the end of the article.
In 2016, id Software reinvented what you knew from the games long standing history. Doom had you running through arena sized areas blasting away demon after demon at break neck speed. Forcing you to play a quicker and more ambitious version of their gore-fest in order to regain health and stay alive. This new trailer we were graciously given showed off a plethora of enemies, including the Cyberdemon and giant worm monsters, right along with the other enemies we have grown to loveto shotgun into oblivion. We were also treated to more of the same heavy metal music to set the ominous tone.
Spoiler alert, to end the last Doom, you, the Doom Slayer, were stabbed in the chest by a cyborg named Samuel Hayden. I would imagine that Doom Eternal, which is reported to have twice as many demons and makes the player feel extremely powerful, is going to be coming in the later half of next year. If you’re as excited for Doom Eternal as I am you will have to tune in to QuakeCon in August when they have claimed to be giving more details on the upcoming game.
Doom was my personal favorite game of 2016 and I still enjoy jumping back in from time to time. The crazy speed, growing difficulty, and the music all have me wanting more Doom and it looks like it won’t take too much longer. What did you think of the 2016 reboot of Doom? How excited are you for the newly announced sequel? Let us know the answers to these questions as well as your opinions of Doom Eternal‘s debut in the comments below.
