Square-Enix and Eidos Montreal have announced that a follow up to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, called Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, is in development for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The game takes place in 2029, two years after Human Revolution, where the events of that game have caused a divide between people who support human augmentation and those who do not. The narrative will be about political factions trying to sway the public for the purposes of their own agenda.

In the midst of all this is Adam Jensen, who has gone from corporate security chief to covert agent. The announcement trailer suggests that he is fighting a personal war against the Illuminati.

dxmd-still-2Talking on the themes of the Deus Ex series, Square-Enix and Eidos Montreal emphasize that Mankind Divided will further explore the ideas presented in Human Revolution and that the game’s themes will be relevant to the real world.

“What began with Deus Ex: Human Revolution goes to a whole new level in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided,” said David Anfossi, Head of Studio at Eidos Montreal, “diving deeper into this discussion and, in turn, offering fans an all-encompasing experience, one which will challenge their skills as players and emphasize decision-making based on real world topics.”

ThePC version of the game will support DirectX 12.

No release date has been announced for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, but you can check out the announcement trailer below.
