Cloud Out Today – Bayonetta Coming Soon – Super Smash Bros News

Cloud Out Today – Bayonetta Coming Soon – Super Smash Bros News

All good things must come to an end.

Today marked the very last video presentation of announcements for new fighters and DLC for Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

The biggest bombshell was the revelation of the final character that will ever be added to Super Smash Bros. And that character is a bombshell herself. Everyone’s favorite Umbra Witch, Bayonetta, will be making her grand return, this time to the Super Smash Bros arena.

This is really happening!!!!!

This is really happening!!!!!

Super Smash Bros Director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed her impending arrival, divulging that Bayonetta was the number 1 choice of fans in Europe, as well as finishing within the top 5 in  the North American polls, as determined by the Smash Ballot – an online poll that Nintendo had opened earlier this year as a way to gauge what special guest characters fans want to see in Super Smash Bros.

Bayonetta will bring a number of her signature moves and her unmistakable combat style to Super Smash Bros battleground.

For Starters, a number of her outrageous demonic summons will be available to devastate opponents, including the massive Gomorrah, who will be able to chomp on multiple foes as part of her Final Smash.

A new stage called Umbra Clock Tower will accompany Bayonetta’s addition to Super Smash Bros, along with two different versions of the character herself; one based off of her original appearance in Bayonetta, and the second based off the shorter hair version found in Bayonetta 2.

Sakurai said that Bayonetta will be ready to take on all challengers in Super Smash Bros in February 2016.

Sakurai had a few other surprises for the Super Smash Bros faithful.

In addition to Bayonetta’s reveal, Sakarai also announced that Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII will be available TODAY!

You can download Cloud for either the Nintendo 3DS or Wii U versions of Super Smash Bros for $5.99, or you can download him for both systems for only $6.99.

Cloud will bring the all-new Midgar stage with him, costume versions based off of Final Fantasy VII and the movie, Final Fantasy: Advent Children, as well as all new summon attacks which will be generated on the stage. These summon attacks will cause status effects to the stage itself, which can damage your opponents. For example, the legendary Bahamut Zero will release a devastating flair that will grow in intensity, giving you an opportunity to force your opponents into it for damage. Leviathan will cause flood waves, Ifrit will set portions of the stage on fire, etc.

Cloud is available right now!!

The final new character announced today (actually the first) is Corrin from the upcoming game, Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright.

Corrin is a sword fighter that has the blood of a dragon running through his veins. This will allow him to transform parts of his body into a dragon-form during different attacks. The sword that he wields can also take on various functions. One interesting attack is called the Dragon Lunge. This is a downward thrust that is performed in mid-air and has the ability to briefly pin another fighter of they are caught underneath the strike. Once that challenger is pinned, Corrin will have a few seconds to perform a few different attacks on his victim, or he can cancel the move as a way to mix up his options.

A female version of Corrin, who retains all of the same moves and attributes will be selectable as well.

Corrin will be joining the Super Smash Bros fight sometime in February of 2016.

In addition to the above mentioned fighters, Sakurai also showed off a number of new costumes that will soon be available for your customized Mii Fighters.

Some of the highlights included Tails and Knuckles from the Sonic the Hedgehog series, Geno, from Super Mario RPG, and a Chocobo hat from the Final Fantasy series.

Finally, no Super Smash Bros presentation would be complete without Amiibo news.

Amiibo versions of Ryu, Roy, and a variation of R.O.B. will hit store shelves on March 18th, 2016. Development was also confirmed for Amiibo versions of Bayonetta, Cloud, and Corrin, however no release date was announced.

Mr. Sakurai concluded this last Super Smash Bros presentation by reviewing the impressive stats of the game. 58 fighters, 84 stages between the two versions, over 700 trophies, and 507 music tracks have combined to create an absolutely epic game. Sakarai thanked his developers, who have worked hard to bring new content to Super Smash Bros for over a year after the initial game’s release, and of course, the fans, without whom none of this would be possible.

Sakurai can finally see the end goal..

Are you excited for all the new content coming to Super Smash Bros? Are you a bit overwhelmed?

Leave a thought or maybe a thank you to the developers in the comments section below.
