Boom! Sonic Returns in Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice for Nintendo 3DS
The fastest marsupial currently residing on the planet is set to return this fall in glorious hand-held 3D! Today, Sega of America announced the next game in the Sonic Boom series, Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice will be hitting store shelves this fall as a Nintendo 3DS exclusive.
Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice is being developed by Sanzaru Games Inc. and will be based off of the animated adventures of Sonic and his friend, currently airing on the Cartoon Network. The game will allow you to play as Sonic (of course) as well as a number of his companions as they battle the ever-nefarious Dr. Eggman, who as always, is attempting to do something rather crummy.
Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice’s title reflects the new themes and abilities of fire and ice that are woven into the gameplay, although Sega has not detailed as of yet what that will exactly mean for players. One new gameplay element Sega did mention was the introduction of a mini-game called Bot-racing, which will feature multi-player elements, as well as factor into the single-player story.
Accompanying the launch of Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice will be a new companion app for all things Sonic-related entitled Sonic Central. Fans of the Sonic cartoon or various games will be able to download exclusive artwork and wallpapers, character info, and even a feature called Sonic Pix, which lets users insert Sonic into their uploaded photos.
No solid release date for Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice was provided besides “Holiday 2015,” however we should hear a little more about it at E3 2015 which is scheduled to officially kick off on June 16th.
