Akuma Invades Tekken 7

Akuma Invades Tekken 7

Capcom and Namco are teaming up for another fight.

The Street Fighter series’ resident demonic fighter, Akuma is set to shake things up in Tekken 7, as shown in a brand new trailer released by Namco.

The trailer footage shows Akuma retaining many of his unique moves and characteristics, including fireballs, and yes, the raging demon, integrated within the framework of the Tekken fighting engine. Surprisingly, the trailer indicates that Akuma will feature heavily within the story of Tekken7, as well as the Tekken series cannon.

Akuma’s Tekken 7 appearance is not the first time that Capcom and Namco have allowed characters from their flagship series’ cross-over into each other’s games.

In 2010, Capcom and Namco announced a joint cross-over project between the Street Fighter series and the Tekken series which was to yield two games, that would showcase the unique fighting styles of both series’. The first game in that venture, Street Fighter x Tekken, was developed by Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono, and released in 2012. It featured a number of fighters from both Street Fighter and Tekken, and retained Capcom’s signature Street Fighter fighting style. The second game in the venture, Tekken x Street Fighter, is set to be produced by Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada in the style of the Tekken games. Although Tekken x Street Fighter was announced in 2010, the game has yet to materialize.

Tekken 7 is currently out in Japanese arcades. A home version has not yet been announced, although it would be a safe bet to assume that we will see it released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime in 2016.

Are you ready to return to the King of the Iron Fist Tournament and take on Akuma in Tekken 7? Throw down your challenge in the comments section below.
