A lot of these games are just as great and influential as the last article’s list. Some, not so much… They were important games in 1987 regardless, so I’m including them here. Just because a title was popular and remembered with nostalgia doesn’t mean it was actually influential, or even good for that matter.

Often overlooked but remembered as a cult classic by some, the original Kid Icarus deserves a spot amid the best NES games of all time. Challenging? Yes. But it’s also a lot of fun and creates one of the most imaginative and creative atmospheres in the 8-bit world.
