Shenmue I & II Is Coming This Year

Shenmue I & II Is Coming This Year

It’s happening!

Sega revealed that they will be releasing a full HD remaster of Shenmue I & II in 2018, as part of their Sega FES 2018 celebration, which was held Friday in Tokyo.

Sega had teased via Twitter that fans would want to pay close attention to the weekend festival for a special announcement during the afternoon on Friday.

No major details regarding the long rumored HD remaster have been announced as of yet, other than the fact that Shenmue I & II will be released in 2018, and that the compilation will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Shenmue was originally released in the fall of 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast. It was an epic, complex, and ambitious title that served as sort of  a precursor to the sandbox, open world gameplay that would revolutionize the video game industry throughout the early 2000’s. It also served as a grandiose swan song for Sega’s final console.

The HD remaster of Shenmue I and II will serve as a nice reminder for fans and newcomers in the lead up to the release of Shenmue III, which was announced at E3 2015, which has been in development by series creator Yu Suzuki.

Check out the announce trailer below.
