PS4 Update 2.0 Coming This Fall
Prepare yourselves, an update is coming!
At Sony’s Gamescom press conference Sony announced an impending software update. What’s included in the upcoming update are items that have been hinted at E3, promised since the launch of the PS4, and requested by users.
First on the agenda of the update is the addition of Share Play, which has been promised to users for a long time now. After their press conference, Sony wrote on their PlayStation Blog that “the best way to think about Share Play is like a ‘virtual couch.” By using Share Play, you will be able to invite a friend to play co-op with you, even if said friend doesn’t own a copy of the game. Share Play will also allow an invited friend to assist a player by allowing the friend to take over controls during a tough spot in a game. It should be noted that this feature will only be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers.
As requested by the users, broadcast and upload features will be added in the PS4 update. Finally, direct uploading to YouTube will be added to the PS4 share options.
Lastly, the “What’s New” will get revamped with “enhanced real-time activity through friend-of-friend suggestions, allowing instant access to friends’ and recently played games’ broadcasts.” Also being added is a new search function that allows you to search and find people using their real name.
PS4 software update is set to launch later this fall. No specific date has been set and more announcements from Sony are to come before the update’s launch.
