Programming Group Brings Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to 2D

Programming Group Brings Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to 2D

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is generally regarded as one of the best video games ever made, some publications like the long out of print Next Generation Magazine called it the best game ever made.

Ocarina of Time ushered Link into the 3D age, and reinvented the series in the process, however there are always some who wax nostalgic for the classic top-down perspective of the Super Nintendo era.

A group of hobbyist programmers are moving to make those dreams a reality with their fan made project; Legend of Zelda: OoT 2D, a two dimensional remake of the N64 classic into the traditional, sprite based top-down perspective.

The game, which has no affiliation with Nintendo, has been built from the ground up, using assets that were created specifically for the project. Furthermore, Legend of Zelda OOT 2D uses a completely original game engine.

Now a downloadable demo is available for you to try out for free over at the official website!

Check out the trailer for yourself and let us know if playing Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as a 2D SNES-style game sounds like fun to you in the comments section below.
