New modes, DLC, and VR Experiences coming to Prey – E3 2018
Arkane Studio‘s Prey was the subject of a lot of news last night during Bethesda Softworks’ E3 2018 presentation. In addition to receiving a free update with new modes, the 2017 title also saw its first DLC expansion, the standalone Prey: Mooncrash, and two upcoming VR experiences.
The first of Prey‘s new content, the free update, includes three new “modes”; Story Mode, New Game +, and Survival Mode. In reality, two of the modes are actually not new modes per say, but difficulty settings, with Story Mode as a new casual difficulty and Surivival Mode which adds some options that enhance the difficulty of the campaign. New Game +, which was frequently requested in the past, will allow players to carry over their unlocked neuromods, but not their inventory.
And the second piece of new content, Prey: Mooncrash, is a standalone expansion with its own campaign, that takes place shortly after the main game’s story. The kicker with Mooncrash is that the campaign’s enemies, loot, and goals which will vary with each playthrough, providing players with a new experience every time. Included with the Mooncrash expansion is the upcoming Typhon Hunter multiplayer update which will feature “a tense game of hide and seek between a single survivor and five other players who stalk, hunt, and hide in plain sight as mimics.”
Prey: Mooncrash‘s Typhon Hunter mode will also be playable in VR and include a second, solo escape room VR mode, called TranStar VR. Prey: Mooncrash is avaliable now digitally or included in the new Prey: Digital Deluxe Edition while the Typhon Hunter update will be coming sometime this summer.
