Final Fantasy VII Remake Gets A Release Date! – E3 2019
We finally have a release date for one of the most highly anticipated titles of this generation: Final Fantasy VII Remake!
Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released on March 3rd, 2020, during the Final Fantasy VII: A Symphonic Reunion concert held in Los Angeles Sunday evening, as part of the company’s festivities surrounding E3 2019.
The announcement was accompanied by a brand new trailer for the game, which can be seen below.
Final Fantasy VII Remake has been at the top of many player’s wish-lists since the initial announcement of the title in 2015, as part of Sony’s E3 press event. Since that time news of the game became scarce, leading many to believe that the project was in trouble, or had been delayed until the arrival of next-generation hardware. All of that speculation was put to rest last month, when Final Fantasy VII Remake reemerged as part of a video presentation by Sony.
One interesting item of note: At the time of Final Fantasy VII’s initial announcement, the title had always been described as an “episodic release”. The plans were to break the main story of the game into several chunks, and release those over the course of several years in order to mitigate a lengthy wait time for fans as the game underwent development. The interesting thing to note is that the press release accompanying the release date made no mention of the title being episodic.
Square Enix will undoubtedly shed more light on Final Fantasy VII Remake during their E3 2019 showcase. NerdBacon will be simulcasting and providing our live reactions to the event starting at 8pm EST, and can be watched at twitch.tv/nerdbacon.
