Cybermorph – Atari Jaguar

Ah, the ’90s. When polygons looked like polygons and this was all fields. Join me on an introspective journey through Atari’s last fumble at gaining a toehold as a console manufacturer and my hot, sweaty summer of Jaguar. Did I mention “sweaty” just to make this sound foxy and more interesting? Yes.

Club Drive – Atari Jaguar

Wrapping up Aprils’s Foolish games, may I present perhaps the most foolish game of all, Atari’s “Club Drive,” for the Jaguar. Oh, sure, it features ugly boxes for graphics, and it’s hard to control, but on the other hand … well …

International Sensible Soccer – Atari Jaguar

It’s Nerd Bacon. It’s ZB. It’s International Sensible Soccer for Atari Jaguar. April’s Foolish Games isn’t over until I say it’s over.

White Men Can’t Jump – Atari Jaguar

So, you now own an Atari Jaguar, huh? Hopefully you didn’t spend too much money on it. Now that you’re stuck with this dental equipment- I mean console, you’re hoping to get some recommendations for solid titles. Well, my friends, you’re not in luck. It’s April’s Foolish Games month. Don’t expect any game recommendations right now – however, perhaps you’ll gain something from ZB’s throw down on White Men Can’t Jump for the Atari Jaguar.

Breakout 2000 – Atari Jaguar

In this crazy world, it is even possible to get nostalgic about nostalgia. But is looking back on a 1996 relic which itself looks back upon a 1976 relic really going to cut your bacon? It depends on what kind of gamer you are.

Zool 2 – Atari Jaguar

This is one of the best 2-D ninja goose-and-lamp murdering platformers I’ve ever encountered. But back in 1994, “64-bits” were supposed to look like a bunch of yucky polygons. A safe distance from the ’90s, does ‘Zool 2’ hold up? This reviewer thinks it’s a damn fine pepperoni pizza.

Dragon’s Lair – Jaguar CD

Platform:  Atari Jaguar CD Release Date:  1995 Developer:  Epicenter Interaction Publisher:  ReadySoft Genre:  Interactive Movie, FMV Game Nerd Rating:  3.5 out of 10 What the fuck have I spent the last 2 and a half hours doing?  You’ll be asking yourself the same question if you take the time to wade through this monstrosity.  Like… Continue reading Dragon’s Lair – Jaguar CD

Baldies – Atari Jaguar CD

If there’s one game to play for the Jaguar CD, it’s Baldies, but only by comparison. Gameplay is fun, but can be complicated to master. Music and graphics are decent, but not great enough to seek out this game if you can’t get it easily.

Primal Rage – Atari Jaguar CD

Primal Rage is a fun concept with a decent execution. Graphics on the Jaguar CD can be nice, but the lower frame rate and reduced sprites bring down the fun level. I recommend another port of this one.

Cybermorph – Atari Jaguar

Platform:  Atari Jaguar Release Date (NA):  November 23rd, 1993 Developer:  Attention to Detail Genre:  3D Shooter Rating:  1.5 out of 10   I believe in giving all games a chance, no matter how insipid they first appear.  After a few hours and several Dramamine later, I must honestly conclude that Cybermorph is without redemption.  I have so far… Continue reading Cybermorph – Atari Jaguar
