Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars – SNES
Super Mario RPG could’ve turned out so wrong, but the result is so right. With an ingenious blend of classical Mario and RPG elements, this game delivers on all fronts with an awesome story, characters, gameplay, music and graphics. A must play.

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash – Wii U
Mario’s ventures into the world of tennis have always been one of his more well-respected spin-offs, so it would make sense to expect great things with the release of Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash for the Wii U. However, while the game looks beautiful, it’s criminally shy of engaging content.

Mario Party 10 – Wii U
And the party rages on with Mario Party 10 for the Wii U, the 14th installment of the series overall. With a total of 3 different modes to party on with, it’s one of the most appealing entries in the series to date.

Raptor: Call of the Shadows – PC
Raptor: Call of the Shadows is a scrolling shooter title that pits you up against countless enemy ships with only one goal in mind, to make as much cash blowing them to smithereens as possible. Its initial difficulty curve may be hard for newer players to grasp, but if you hold out and upgrade your weapons judiciously, you’ll likely find it an enjoyable game.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune – PS3
A birthplace for one of modern gaming’s icons, Uncharted is definitely an interesting product of our time. Does this treasure hunting, guns blazing experience hold up? Or is it as stale as Sir Francis Drake’s corpse?
-
Backyard Baseball 2003 – PC
I’m reviewing a game today that is as alive in my heart as the moment I touched it at five years old. Does it hold up? Or was five year old me just a stupid kid with no grip on what games were good? YOU DECIDE!

Mario Hoops 3-on-3 – DS
For the Mario anniversary, I’ll be reviewing a basketball game. With my weird review choices, I can’t really say I should be surprised, and neither should you. The fact that Square Enix developed this game does make it a curiosity though…

Donkey Kong – Atari 2600
The first Mario game I ever owned. While all my friends were having a blast with Super Mario Bros. 3, I was knew the real party was here on the Atari 2600, the duct-taped console I had received. I cried myself to sleep most nights — totally unrelated. Anyway, this version of Donkey Kong, surprisingly, rocks.
