Mortal Kombat 4 – GBC

Mortal Kombat has never fared well on portable systems, especially the earlier games. The one and only MK game for the Game Boy Color, a port of Mortal Kombat 4, stands as one of the worst.

Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition – GBA

Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition is a GBA exclusive that brought Sektor, Noob Saibot, and Sareena all into the Deadly Alliance storyline….but does the gameplay live up to the promising premise?

WWE Day of Reckoning 2 – Nintendo GameCube

Wrestling games say goodbye to the Nintendo GameCube with WWE Day of Reckoning 2. Is this a sweet sad goodbye? Perhaps an exhilarating one? Nerd Bacon’s Steroid Gamer enters the squared circle one-more time, for the final WWE GameCube exclusive title.

Mortal Kombat X – Android

Mobile apps – especially those offered as a tie-in to existing media – can be a real hit or miss…mostly a miss. However, Mortal Kombat X does a pretty decent job of both relating to the console port and establishing its own identity. It’s not quite perfect, but it is certainly worth a look for fans of the series.

Mortal Kombat: Unchained – PSP

Midway (and its successors) have always been fans of releasing various updates and ports of Mortal Kombat games. Mortal Kombat: Unchained is one of the most worthy handheld MK games, featuring all of the content from console versions of MK: Deception as well as 6 extra characters, 4 of which are exclusive. Unchained is one of the better titles to add to your PSP library.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe – 360

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe marked a strange turn for the MK franchise, trading in its contemporary sword-and-sorcery setting for something more inline with a comic book crossover. The results are interesting and worth checking out for fans of either franchise, but ultimately, I don’t think it’s an experiment worth repeating.

Mortal Kombat Gold – Dreamcast

Mortal Kombat Gold is a Sega Dreamcast exclusive that was supposed to be a 6th generation update to MK4. While it added a few characters, it failed to make improvements to the core gameplay of MK4 and even introduced some problems of its own!

Mortal Kombat X – PS4

Mortal Kombat X may be the best entry yet in the franchise. With a new approach to the story, a solid roster of familiar faces and new kombatants, and a handful of new mechanics, this is an experience that old and new fans of the series shouldn’t miss.

Shrek Fairy Tale Freakdown – Nintendo Game Boy Color

Shrek put’s on his fighting gloves and starts bashing away at his enemies (and friends?) in this 2-D fighting game for the GameBoy Color. Nerd Bacon.com’s Steroid Gamer decided to tag team along with Shrek. Did the two of them lay the smackdown on those fairytale creatures? Read the review to find out.

Punch-Out!! – NES

Take a trip down memory lane when LifeShowChris reviews an oldie but goodie. If the review is a knockout, the game certainly is.
