Find out what these ratings mean and how I rate video games.
I collect as much video gaming paraphernalia as I can get my hands on, especially when it comes to hardware. With over 40 systems including oldies like the ColecoVision and Intellivision, obscurities like the CD-i and 3DO, and the latest and greatest including the Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, 3DS, and PS Vita, I get easily overwhelmed. Most of the time you can find me firmly nestled sometime between 1985 and 1995 when it comes to my games of choice, but I'm also having a great time seeing what the 8th generation has to offer.

Dr. Mario – NES
Platform: NES Release Date (NA): October 1990 Developer: Nintendo Genre: Puzzle Rating: 8.5 out of 10 Most people tend to point to Tetris as the epitome of puzzle gaming during the late 8-bit era, but Dr. Mario gets my vote without hesitation. Perhaps this is due to a period of my life where my parents’ house become a… Continue reading Dr. Mario – NES
The Beatles Rock Band Drum Kit – XBox 360
After my nightmarish experience with the Guitar Hero World Tour Drum Kit, I was a little wary of spending more money on another one. You can read all about how I came about this set in the previously mentioned review. This drum kit, which came in the Beatles Rock Band bundle,… Continue reading The Beatles Rock Band Drum Kit – XBox 360
Guitar Hero World Tour Drum Kit – XBox 360
Where do I even start with these drums? I guess I’ll start at the beginning of my own personal experience. Prior to the release of Guitar Hero World Tour I had all the other Guitar Hero releases for the PlayStation 2. I didn’t yet own anything from the Rock Band series, so I had no experience with any drum peripherals. Since… Continue reading Guitar Hero World Tour Drum Kit – XBox 360
Mario Kart Double Dash!! – GameCube

Mortal Kombat – Game Gear
Platform: Game Gear Release Date (NA): September 13th, 1993 Developer: Midway Genre: Fighting Rating: 2.5 out of 10 Does anyone remember playing any Mortal Kombat game on any handheld? I can’t say I’ve tried too many, but I can’t imagine anything much worse than the Sega Game Gear port of the original Mortal Kombat. Hell, at least on… Continue reading Mortal Kombat – Game Gear
Mario Party – N64
I wish I’d been lucky enough to own Mario Party back when I was 14 in 1999. Here is where it all started, one of the longest enduring spin-offs in video game history.
Yoshi’s Story – N64
Yoshi’s Story is more or less the sequel to Yoshi’s Island, which itself was really Super Mario World 2, so in weird sort of way this is actually Super Mario World 3 but without any Mario.
Sony PlayStation Vita

LittleBigPlanet PS Vita – PS Vita
Platform: PS Vita Release Date (NA): September 25th, 2012 Developer: Double Eleven, Tarsier Studios Genre: Platformer, Puzzle Rating: 7.5 out of 10 I’d like to go ahead and say that LittleBigPlanet PS Vita (yes, that is actually the official title) was my first ever experience with the LittleBigPlanet franchise, so if this article sounds like I’ve never played any LittleBigPlanet games before,… Continue reading LittleBigPlanet PS Vita – PS Vita

Faxanadu – NES
Platform: NES Release Date (NA): November 16th, 1989 Developer: Hudson Soft Genre: RPG / Action-Adventure Rating: 9 out of 10 I’ve put off reviewing this for a while now, but man, Faxanadu goes up there with my top 3 favorite NES games, not to mention the short list of titles I ramble on about when being… Continue reading Faxanadu – NES
