Who Will Be The Champ? – Nintendo World Championships Returns This Fall

Who Will Be The Champ? – Nintendo World Championships Returns This Fall

Players looking to prove that they are the very best, like no one ever was, will get their chance with the return of the Nintendo World Championships in October.

Qualifying rounds are set to take place across four separate weekends starting on August 19th and 20th, which will be held at various Best Buy locations throughout the U.S.

Nintendo’s choice of game for the qualifying rounds will be time trial runs in Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo 3DS – an odd choice considering the company just launched the brilliant Mario Kart 8: Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch earlier this year.

Players will need to dust off their copies of Mario Kart 7 so they can practice for the big tournament.

The lucky winners of the time trial showdown will then be flown to New York City for the finals of the Nintendo World Championships – a multi-game competitive extravaganza which will take place October 7th. The player that is strong enough to withstand the grueling trials that will surely be thrown his, or her way and walk away as the Nintendo World Championships Champion will receive… a really cool trophy. Like, this thing is worth close to 3 grand folks!

All kidding aside, the last Nintendo World Championships event, which was held during E3 2015, was a really entertaining event to watch, so you may want to mark your calendar to check it out. You can also check in with our Twitch.tv channel to catch coverage. Who knows – Nintendo may use the event to announce a new game.

Those interested in signing up for their chance at Nintendo World Championships glory can check out the schedule below for times and locations.

You can check out official rules at the Nintendo World Championships site.

August 19th and 20th August 26th and 27th September 2nd and 3rd September 9th and 10th
