More Details Emerge About Fire Emblem Warriors, Plus Amiibo! – E3 2017
During this morning’s Nintendo Spotlight E3 2017, Nintendo showcased a new trailer for the upcoming Nintendo Switch and New Nintendo 3DS title, Fire Emblem Warriors, although the trailer and Treehouse gameplay demonstration appeared to be from the Switch version of the game.
Not many details about Fire Emblem Warriors’ plot were revealed, other than the plight of the twin prince and princess of the Kingdom of Aitriss joining forces with heroes from other realms in order to save their people from an evil dragon. From the trailer we got our first glimpse of the original characters and protagonists Rowen and Lianna, as well as their companion Darius. We also got a short glimpse of some of the returning Fire Emblem characters including Marth (Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon), Chrom (Fire Emblem: Awakening), and Corrin (female), Xander, and Ryoma (Fire Emblem Fates).
Reoccurring character Anna was also seen in promotional images, however it is unknown if she will be playable or just appear in-menu. There have also been unconfirmed rumors that Tharja (Fire Emblem: Awakening) will also be playable, although considering how popular she is, it’s likely. That, and most of the roster have been confirmed by an article in Famitsu to pull mostly from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Awakening, and Fates.
The following Treehouse demonstration gave us our first glimpse of the game in action on the Nintendo Switch, showcasing the above mentioned confirmed characters as well as some of the games mechanics including; a weapons triangle, the ability to command allied units and swap between them at will, double special attacks, the addition of an arena with extra challenges, and a level up screen with stat growths. If said stat growth will matter in-game and how was never revealed.
In addition to a Fall 2017 release date, two new amiibo were announced after the demonstration that will be compatible with the game, Chrom (the above mentioned playable character, and Tiki (from her Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon appearance). It is unknown how these amiibo will work with the game. Interestingly, by the amiibo bases, both appear to be from the same amiibo series as the recently released Alm and Celica Fire Emblem Series amiibo.

Also of note, two characters already confirmed by the trailer and demonstration, Marth and Corrin (Player 2, or female) both have a Super Smash Bros. Series amiibo. There’s no word whether they are also compatible with Fire Emblem Warriors. Although, the previous Koei Techmo and Nintendo collaboration, Hyrule Warriors, had weapons unlocked by the characters’ corresponding amiibo, so something similar may be the case. By that logic, we may see Tiki soon revealed as a playable character.
The roaster may also see additions from the rather large catalog of other popular Fire Emblem characters also give amiibo such as Robin and Lucina (Awakening), Ike (Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn), Roy (The Binding Blade), Corrin (male, also from Fates), and Alm and Celica (Gaiden and Shadows of Valentia). There’s also a likelihood that more Fire Emblem amiibo may be announced before Fire Emblem Warriors‘ launch.
Fire Emblem Warriors will be coming to the Nintendo Switch and New Nintendo 3DS systems this fall, although undated. The Chrom and Tiki amiibo may be releasing alongside them.
