Microsoft Introduces Xbox Play Anywhere to Close the PC-Xbox Gap

Microsoft Introduces Xbox Play Anywhere to Close the PC-Xbox Gap

During Microsoft’s E3 briefing today, co-creator of the Gears of War franchise, Rod Fergusson let gamers in on a little surprise- Gears of War 4 would be one of the first games to be a part of Xbox’s new program Xbox Play Anywhere.

As Fergusson explained, “This icon means when you buy the game digitally, you get to own it and play it on both Xbox and Windows 10 PC.”

Xbox-Play-Anywhere

After the initial introduction, many of the games featured during Microsoft’s briefing were also revealed to be a part of Xbox Play Anywhere, including, but not limited to; Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Halo Wars 2, ReCore, Scalebound, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, and We Happy Few.

According to Fergusson, progress and achievements for Xbox Play Anywhere games will be shared across both platforms, allowing gamers to start one of the program’s titles on the Xbox One and later play it on your Windows 10 PC at no additional cost. Cross-play between Xbox One and Windows 10 PC players will also be supported, as shown during the Forza Horizon 3 demonstration, which showed the new seamless Xbox One and Windows 10 cross-play.

Gamers will likely see more Xbox games involved in the Xbox Play Anywhere program as Microsoft gears up to introduce Project Scorpio in the next few years.
