FREEDOM! – Freedom Planet 2 Announced

FREEDOM! – Freedom Planet 2 Announced

Galaxy Trail must have thought that gamers around the world were extra nice this year, because the developers left us all an extra special gift under our collective trees for Christmas.

The company announced that they are working on Freedom Planet 2, via a new trailer that was released on Youtube over the holiday.

Freedom Planet 2 takes place following the events of the well received original. An ancient relic from Avalice’s original war, in the form of the water dragon named Merga, has emerged from beneath the bottom of the sea to wreak havoc on the planet. Our three heroines, Lilac, Carol, and Milla are all that stands in the way of Merga’s vengeful wrath. However, our three warrior gals find themselves divided as this ancient foe arises.

For those unfamiliar, the original Freedom Planet was a platform game that made its debut on the PC in July of 2014. The game paidĀ homage to the classic Sonic the Hedgehog series with a fast-paced platform style, along with expertly retro visual aesthetic that would have felt right at home on the Sega Genesis. Since its initial release, Freedom Planet has made its way to the Nintendo Wii U in October of 2015 via the Nintendo E-Shop.

A release date has not yet been revealed for Freedom Planet 2, but you can get yourself antiquated with the series by checking out our review of the original Freedom Planet.
