Project CARS Hits the Breaks Until May

Project CARS Hits the Breaks Until May

Slightly Mad Studios has announced that their upcoming driving simulator: Project CARS has been delayed until the middle of May.

Ian Bell, the Head of Studio for Slightly Mad delivered the news via press release earlier today.

Project CARS is by far the grandest and most intricately detailed of them all. Despite therefore the game being 99.9% complete, the remaining 0.1% attending to small issues and bugs has been tricky to anticipate. We’re absolutely dedicated to delivering a ground-breaking experience and by targeting mid-May fans can be assured that’s what they’ll receive”

Bell went on to to thank fans for their support during the development of Project CARS, and also revealed that the company will offer players free DLC to make up for the postponement.

We have to wait just a bit longer to take the wheel of Project CARS

“Since the gaming community is our primary focus and has always been at the heart of the project during development, we would like to offer some free content to all players as compensation for this short delay and as acknowledgement of how grateful we are. This gift, that we’re sure is going to excite fans, will be available from day one and revealed shortly. Keep an eye on our website for more info.”

For those unfamiliar, Project CARS is a simulation racing game that is being developed by Slightly Mad Studios.  Their previous work included Need For Speed Shift Unleashed and Need For Shift Unleashed 2. The team utilized crowd funding for the project, receiving over $5 million from a player base of over 85,000.

The game features robust solo and online campaign modes, as well as a wide variety of vehicles from which to choose. A full list of cars has not been released as of yet, however Project CARS will cover a plethora of racing types and should have something for everyone. Players can choose to race in:

  • Road Cars
  • Karts
  • Track Day Cars
  • Super Cars
  • Le Mans Prototypes
  • GT
  • Open-Wheel

An exact date in May has not been specified for Project CARS. It was previously slated to launch on April 2nd.

Project CARS will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U.
