PlayStation 4 Owners Report Problem After System 2.0 Update
Users on Reddit, Neogaf, and your very own Watchman can confirm that there is an issue with waking the PlayStation 4 up from sleep mode after the System 2.0 Update, which went live yesterday.
Neogaf forum user m@cross posted his experience this morning:
“PS4 not responding this morning after being put in rest mode last night
Power button does not respond to press
Eject button beeps but does nothing
Controllers do not power it on, wired or wireless
Phone App does not see system
VITA can not find system
A disc is in the drive, thought it worked last night with one in
I did disable USB power before stand bye, but not likely the issue
Tried pulling all cords BUT power cord, no changes
Held down power button and system eventually turned off, restarted with power button and system did a disc check and warned me of improper shut downs causing harm.”
I also experienced something similar this morning before heading off to work. I had downloaded the System 2.0 Update yesterday morning, and even played a quick round of Destiny before putting the PlayStation 4 to sleep as I normally do. This morning, I noticed that the PlayStation 4 was feeling rather warm and saw that the orange light that is displayed while the console is in sleep mode was now softly blinking. I tried turning on the PlayStation 4, however nothing happened. I tried turning the machine on using my controller. The controller sprang to life, however the PlayStation 4 did not. After a quick internet search I became aware of the issue.
“Happened to me too. Orange light stayed pulsating i tried turning it on but wouldn’t respond had to hold down the power button for a few seconds for it to turn off and i still got the message saying i turned off the console incorrectly as if i unplugged it.” – Zurc89, Reddit user.
I have not turned back on my PlayStation 4 yet, so I don’t know what, if any damage has been done.
VG 24/7 is reporting that Sony has issued a statement on the issue;
“We are aware of issues reported by some PS4 users following the release of PS4′s latest system software update, v2.00.
“We are investigating these issues and will provide an update as soon as we have more information,”
We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
