Xbox One players will no longer need to have space in the entertainment center occupied by their old Xbox 360. Today, Microsoft announced that Xbox 360 Backwards compatibility is coming to Xbox One this holiday season.

Approximately 100 Xbox 360 titles will be available when Xbox One backwards compatibility launches, with more titles being added via patch regularly. Titles that you have purchased digitally for Xbox 360 will automatically show up in your library once the Xbox One backwards compatibility feature launches.

Developers will only need to approve the title becoming available, no extra technical aspects are needed, as Microsoft has pledged to handle those details themselves.

In a thinly veiled shot at Sony and their PlayStation Now subscription service, Mike Ybarra, Head of Platform Engineering at Microsoft said, “We don’t believe in making you pay to play games you already own.”
