Thinking of doing a stream series soon. The theme: Retro games I never beat as a kid and want to try again. Thoughts?

Nintendo 1-up’s the Pretty with the Shu Uemara x Super Mario Bros. Collection

Nintendo 1-up’s the Pretty with the Shu Uemara x Super Mario Bros. Collection

This is perhaps the most unlikely marketing crossover that I’ve ever seen – which also makes it one of the coolest!

Nintendo has teamed up with internationally renowned cosmetics giant, Shu Uemura for a full line of Super Mario Bros. inspired make-up and skin care products.

Known as the Shu Uemara x Super Mario Bros. collection, this limited edition set is available just in time for the October release of Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch.

On a snowy night in Tokyo, Mario takes you on a brave journey to help Princess Peach by protecting the Mushroom Kingdom’s makeup treasure.

Along the way, gather Shu Uemara colorful makeup and playful cleansing oils to fight against Bowser who wants to see the world in black and white.” a posting on the Shu Uemara website reads –  laying a story-line, oddly deeper than most Mario story-lines, for why you should shop the Shu Uemara x Super Mario Bros. collection.

Shu Uemara is a pretty premium brand, and each item in the Shu Uemara x Super Mario Bros. collection reflects that prestige, with fun, high-quality artwork adorning each item.

Those of you interested in checking out some of the one-of-a-kind Super Mario-themed items should act quickly. A cursory glance through the Shu Uemara website shows many items unavailable – and the nifty-looking limited edition Peach’s Eye and Cheek Palette already sold out.

With gaming reaching a wider audience than ever, perhaps the Shu Uemara x Super Mario Bros. collection will start a trend of more cosmetic companies release game-inspired looks in the future.

Maybe with any luck we’ll get an Urban Decay x Bayonetta line someday!
