Mortal Kombat X – Predator Demo – with VIDEO

Mortal Kombat X – Predator Demo – with VIDEO

Nearly 3 months have passed since the release of Mortal Kombat X, and just last week holders of the season pass (or Kombat Pack as it’s called) received the 3rd of 4 promised DLC characters – Predator, from the film franchise of the same name.

Personally I’m not as enthused about these guest characters as some – I’d rather real MK characters fill the slots – but having a little slice of new content is always fun, and I think Predator fits into the MK universe at least a little better than Jason.

Although not warmly received by fellow Baconeers during a recent Twitch stream demonstrating our new kombatant (complaints ranged from him “looking cartoony” to having “lame fatalities”), he has grown on me a bit more than Jason ever did.  First impressions are hard to overcome though, and initially Predator can be a somewhat clunky character absent conventional strengths, instead relying on timed attacks that can be difficult to execute effectively.  He certainly plays different than any other character and is not novice friendly.

Here’s Predator in action after a couple days of practicing.  All 3 variations are represented, as are most special moves.  Also included are his 2 fatalities and 5 brutalities, as well as his standard victory pose which could act as a finishing move all on its own!  The Predator/Prey skins were also released on the same damn as were our first batch of Klassic Fatalities lifted from the earlier days of Mortal Kombat and I’ve tacked them on the end of the video as well.  Around 12 hours after the initial release we were also given access to Kold War Scorpion, but it slipped my mind.  Oh well, more coming soon!

For those without the Kombat Pack, Predator will be available starting next Tuesday (July 13th) for general purpose.  Also, he will be featured as playable character on the Premier Tower for the week for those wishing to give him a spin before purchase.

I enjoy putting music in these videos but had a tough time settling on a soundtrack for Predator.  As a result, I’ve cut 2 different versions.  The top includes the regular in-game sound effects while the bottom has a few tunes attached.  Enjoy!

So what do you think of the newest addition to MKX?  Let us know below!
Also take a trip over to our YouTube channel and subscribe!  You’ll want to keep your eyes open in the near future – in a few days I’ll be able to produce videos in FULL HD, so don’t miss it when the first one goes live!

Find out what these ratings mean and how I rate video games.

I collect as much video gaming paraphernalia as I can get my hands on, especially when it comes to hardware. With over 40 systems including oldies like the ColecoVision and Intellivision, obscurities like the CD-i and 3DO, and the latest and greatest including the Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, 3DS, and PS Vita, I get easily overwhelmed. Most of the time you can find me firmly nestled sometime between 1985 and 1995 when it comes to my games of choice, but I’m also having a great time seeing what the 8th generation has to offer.
