Gran Turismo Sport Roars Onto PlayStation 4 In November

Gran Turismo Sport Roars Onto PlayStation 4 In November

Can you hear the faint sound of screeching tires in the distance, along with that distinct smell of burning rubber beginning to waft from over the horizon?

That’s because Gran Turismo is ready to put the pedal to the metal.

Sony and Polyphany Digital announced that the next edition of the acclaimed Gran Turismo racing franchise, Gran Turismo Sport, will be screaming onto PlayStation 4 on November 15th, 2016, during a special event held Thursday in London.

Gran Turismo Sport is being engineered as a truly global racing experience with a robust suite of online racing options geared towards making an impact in the burgeoning E-Sports arena.

Players will be able to compete for national or manufacture pride, in a number of online events officially sanctioned by the Federation International Automobile (FIA); the world’s largest governing body for motorsports.

Racers will be able to climb into the driver seat of over 140 cars and tear through 27 different tracks, across 19 locations world-wide.

Gran Turismo Sport will also feature a number of offline modes, including the standard arcade and Campaign modes. And of course, no gorgeous next-gen racer would be complete without a nifty photo mode for creating your own unique brand of virtual car-porn.

The game was originally announced last November during the Paris Game Week festival. At that time, series producer Kazunori Yamauchi had stated that an open-beta would be available for Gran Turismo Sport in 2016, prior to the game’s launch. However, at a panel discussion that took place during Thursday’s unveiling in London, Yamauchi reversed his previous statements, confirming that a beta will not take place after all.

Pre-orders are already going live today, featuring a number of incentives and retail exclusive offers.

Everyone who pre-orders Gran Turismo Sport will automatically receive a 3-car bonus pack, featuring the Ford Mustang Group B Rally Car, the Toyota FT-1 Vision GT Group 3, and the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP LMP1.

In addition, players who reserve through Amazon and the PlayStation Store will receive $500,000 In-game credit, while players reserving through GameStop will receive the Chevrolet Corvette Group 3 and the Nissan NISMO GT-R GT3 N24.

A Gran Turismo Sport Limited Edition was also announced today. This commemorative edition of the game will run $69.99 and include an 8-car GT Sport Starter Pack, a cool $1 million of in-game credits, and a number of themes and avatar items designed to prove your love of Gran Turismo Sport.

We will undoubtedly be hearing more about Gran Turismo Sport at E3 2016, which is rapidly closing in. Sony’s big press event will take place on Monday, June 13th at 9pm EST/8pm central and NerdBacon will be having a ton of coverage, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, be sure to get your drool guards ready as you peruse a number of screenshots below.
