Dragon Quest Heroes PS4 headed West

Dragon Quest Heroes PS4 headed West

Announced today on the PlayStation Blog, Square Enix and Koei Tecmo’s collaborative title, Dragon Quest Heroes, which launches tomorrow in Japan, will be released later this year in the West. Physical and digital formats will be available for purchase.

The blog does not mention the PS3 version of the game at all, so it is likely that only the PS4 version will make its way west, with the last-gen version staying in Japan.

Dragon Quest Heroes has Akira Toriyama’s signature art, Koichi Sugiyama’s moving music, and gameplay ripped straight out of Dynasty Warriors (though refined and a bit different, of course.) It looks to be very much like Hyrule Warriors, though DQ instead of LoZ, and with deeper RPG elements. The four main heroes in the trailer are playable, along with a slew of old friends from the beloved series. Plenty of fan favorite monsters are available for slaughtering as well.

This will be the first Dragon Quest title released in the US since 2011. Many fans hope that Dragon Quest Heroes coming Westward is a sign that other Japan only Dragon Quest titles (Dragon Quest X, Theatrhythm: Dragon Quest, etc) will be released if it is successful.

Square Enix confirmed today that the Action RPG Dragon Quest Heroes will indeed be making its way to U.S. shores for the PlayStation 4 this fall.

For those unfamiliar, Dragon Quest Heroes transports popular characters from the extensive Dragon Quest series into an action setting very much like the recently released Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors.

Series director Yuji Hori and long-time series composer Koichi Sugiyama are involved in the development of Dragon Quest Heroes.

No firm release date was announced yet for Dragon Quest Heroes, however pre-orders are already available via the website, https://store.na.square-enix.com/product/282618/.
