The 2015 Black Friday Sale Roundup (Updated November 10th)

The 2015 Black Friday Sale Roundup (Updated November 10th)

It’s hard to believe it, but Thanksgiving is quickly approaching!

As of this writing, the big day is just a little over one month away, which means it’s time to start solidifying your shopping strategy for the sometimes apocalyptic event that occurs after the last of the turkey has been eaten: Black Friday.

bl fight

Please don’t be like these guys…

The official kick-off to the retail holiday shopping season usually offers a bonanza for eagle-eyed gamers willing to do some leg-work to save precious Federal Reserve Notes. Last year saw a number of fairly recent releases discounted to the $20 – $30 range, as well as a number of great bundles for Xbox One consoles.

No one likes saving money on gaming gear more than your friends here at NerdBacon, so once again we will be rounding up the latest news on what games will be on sale, who is going to have them, and when you can go get them.

So make sure you bookmark this page and keep checking back for our continuous updates. As we begin our march towards Black Friday 2015.

Dell

The winner for the first game-related Black Friday ad leak surprisingly goes to Dell, who will be offering a pretty sweet deal on an Xbox One bundle on the day of shopping infamy.

You’ll be able to grab an Xbox One, packaged with the Gears of War Ultimate Edition, a physical copy of Fallout 4, and an extra controller for only $299!

It’s a pretty substantial deal for anyone who’s looking to add an Xbox One to their gaming repertoire this year, and it could be indicative of another aggressive holiday push by Microsoft.

Dell’s Black Friday sale will commence on Thanksgiving at 6pm EST and will run through Friday.

GameStop

GameStopLogo

GameStop is joining the trend of toning down the sheer madness of Black Friday store hours from last year, which saw most major retailers opening their doors during the evening of Thanksgiving.

This year, GameStop will open at 5am on Black Friday, and their sale prices will be good until Sunday, November 29th.

Console specials will take center-stage during the after-Thanksgiving event, with temporary price-drops on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 units.

Both the Xbox One Gears of War Ultimate Edition bundle and the PlayStation 4 Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection bundles will be discounted by $50 for the weekend; retailing for a very attractive $299 each. In addition, all Xbox One bundles will be marked down by $50. That means that the tempting Xbox One 1tb model with Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Rare Replay, and the superb Ori and the Blind Forest will only be $349.

Notable games on sale include recent releases such as; Forza 6, WWE 2K16, and the Mortal Kombat X Limited Edition, which will all be $49.99. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will run you $39.99, and other 2015 hits like Batman: Arkham Knight, Destiny: The Taken King, and Dragon Quest Heroes will all receive $20 discounts, resulting in prices ranging $30 to $40.

And of course, what big holiday shopping event would be complete without GameStop’s famous Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale, which will be running that Friday through Sunday.

Kohls

kohls-logo

One wouldn’t normally associate Kohl’s with video gaming, however the retailer does carry an assortment of kid-friendly titles, as well as consoles and accessories.

Catching our eye this Black Friday is a sale on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 controllers.

Kohl’s will be offering the Xbox One wireless controller for $39.99 and the DualShock 4 for $49.99.

Doors open at Koh’s locations across the country at 6pm on Thanksgiving, although deals will be available through their website starting Monday, November 23rd.

Target

Target has their sights set on getting you through their cardinal hued doors at 6pm on Thanksgiving, which means you will likely need to take that slice of pumpkin pie on the road to the store.

Although there don’t appear to be any shock and awe-style deals for video game bargain hunters, the retailer does have a few tasty morsels to dish out on your discount-plate.

Target will be offering the now standard $50 discount for Xbox One’s and PlayStation 4’s, both retailing for $299 and they even will throw in a $60 gift card for anyone picking up an Xbox One. Those seeking a deal on Wii U’s will also be able to get in on the discount fun for a change. Target will offer Nintendo’s console for $249, complete with free digital downloads of Splatoon and Super Smash Bros!

There are a few delicious discounts for actual games as well.

Far Cry 4 for PS4 and Xbox One will run $15, as will New Super Mario Bros. 2 For the Nintendo 3DS.

$20 is all it will take to pick up the PlayStation 4 exclusive, Bloodborne.

Mortal Kombat X and Batman: Arkham Knight will pummel your money-saving senses at the $25 range.

For $35 you can grab Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, FIFA ’16, and Destiny: The Taken King.

Finally, Target will throw in a $15 gift card if you pick up some newer or popular games, like Halo 5, Forza 6, Splatoon, or Super Mario Maker.

You can check out all the goodies in the relevant ad scans that I have posted below.

Best Buy

2000px-Best_Buy_Logo.svg

UPDATE: 11/14

Best Buy has added twenty-plus pages to their Black Friday smorgasbord of sales! Quite a few game deals have been included;

One of the most intriguing deals is 15% off all Nintendo eshop cards. Why is this so intriguing? Because Nintendo has announced that they will be running Black Friday sales on the Nintendo eshop of up to 50% off “dozens of titles.” So if you couple those savings with the savings on an eshop card, then you could potentially have a very happy wallet!

Best Buy also will have a huge sale on one of Nintendo’s biggest Wii U titles, Super Smash Bros. You’ll be able to step into the Smash arena for a mere $34.99! Your’s truly is particularly excited for that deal in the wake of newcomers, Ryu and Cloud to the expansive roster.

A number of games have been added to the $19.99 lineup, including: Bloodborne, Final Fantasy Type-O HD, and Final Fantasy X/X-2 H-D.

Another PlayStation 4 bundle will be available as well. The nifty PlayStation 4 Star Wars: Battlefront bundle features a limited edition Darth Vader PS4, Star Wars: Battlefront, and a voucher for four classic Star Wars games: Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, and Jedi Starfighter. The entire package will be on sale for $349.

Best Buy will also have sales on various Turtle Beach headsets and controllers. You can take a look at the new gaming deals for yourself here, here, and here.

Original Story:

The tech wonder-land is ready to receive your Black Friday orgy of tryptophan-fueled spending starting at 5pm on Thanksgiving.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One standard bundles will be on sale for the now standard Black Friday price of $299, however if you are willing to spend a little extra dough, you can pick up the PlayStation 4 Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection bundle, and receive a free DualShock 4 charging station AND a copy of the newly released Fallout 4, for $349. And the best part is that sale is live right now!

There is also a nice Xbox One Tomb Raider bundle on sale for Black Friday, which includes the 1tb Xbox One, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, the just released Rise of the Tomb Raider, and an extra controller, for only $349.

Best Buy will have an assortment of recent releases on sale as well, for those looking to add to their libraries on Black Friday.

Some of the hottest sports games will be a mere $29.99, including; WWE 2K16, NBA 2K16, Madden ’16, and FIFA ’16.

Those looking to pick up some of the holiday season’s biggest games, like Fallout 4, Halo 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Star Wars: Battlefront will qualify for 3 months of Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus for only $4.99.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the recently released Need for Speed, and surprisingly, Splatoon will be on sale for $34.99.

Rounding out the deals are Batman: Arkham Knight, Witcher 3, Mad Max, and Mortal Kombat X for $24.99.

If you need extra controllers for your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, then you can grab ’em for only $39.99.

Another good deal that is worth considering is on the Seagate 2tb external hard drive, which will be on sale for $69.99. Anyone who has had a next-gen system for a while can attest to how quickly the standard 500gb hard drive’s fill up, so it might be a wise decision to grab one of these guys while they are so cheap. (I grabbed one on sale for $89.99 and installed it in my PlayStation 4.)

That rounds it out for Best Buy for this Black Friday. You can gaze the appropriate ad-scans below.

Walmart

walmart

Okay, so I know how everyone feels about Walmart, but a deal is a deal, right? Walmart will begin serving heaping helpings of Black Friday deals for you starting at 6pm on Thanksgiving. Those of us who don’t want to leave the house on Turkey day (and that would be me) can do their shopping online all day.

Walmart has a few good deals for gamers looking to add titles to their libraries that they may have previously missed. At least we think they do. Frankly, the quality of the ad scan is not the best, so it’s a bit hard to accurately gauge the variety of games on sale, however there are some good deals that will available.

By now you are probably aware that Xbox One’s and PlayStation 4’s will be available for $299 pretty much everywhere. Walmart doesn’t have any extra bonus games for either console, however you can get a $30 gift card with the purchase of an Xbox One.

Nintendo will be dishing out a discount on the Wii U. $249 will get you the console, Splatoon, and Super Smash Bros!

A trio of sports games will be on sale. Madden ’16, FIFA 16, and NBA 2K16 will be on sale for $27, so if you are looking to grab the latest versions of either of those games, that would be a good time to do so.

If hockey is your sport, then you may want to grab NHL ’16, which will be on sale for $35. Critically acclaimed horror game, Until Dawn, as well as Forza 6 will also be on sale for $35.

Splatoon, Bloodborne, Grand Theft Auto V, and Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will be discounted to $25.

There will be a number of games as low as $8, including last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Lego Batman 3, and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.

Rare Replay, Evolve, Dying Light, and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will lead another pack of discounts, retailing for $15.

Finally, the reboot of Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero Live will be on sale for a rockin’ $69.

Metal Gear Solid V:The Phantom Pain will try to sneak into your shopping cart for only $34.99.
